Toyota Radiators FAQ

How Do Toyota Radiators Work?

A factory Toyota or Scion radiator is made up of a core block with a series of flat aluminum tubes and fins. Coolant flows between their inlets their outlets, absorbing heat and getting compressed by a pressure cap in the process. This helps the coolant take on even more heat. The fins then release that heat into the nearby air. A cooler engine results, and a cooler engine runs better.

What Are The Signs of Radiator Problems?

Is your vehicle overheating? Can you hear strange engine noises? Do you smell syrupy ethylene glycol? Is your coolant discolored or gunky? Is your vehicle leaking antifreeze, running high on the temperature gauge? Are your exterior fins damaged? These are all signs you might have radiator problems. Even HVAC system malfunctions can indicate a bad radiator.

How Much Do Toyota Radiators Cost?

A radiator replacement averages between $1,050 and $1,250, including parts and labor. Of course, factors such as model, type of radiator, and who performs the service can all affect that number.
