2010s

The Toyota Prius Plug-In hatchback debuted in 2011 as a 2012 model, putting a new hybrid option in Toyota dealer showrooms. The five-door hatch could plug into a 120-volt outlet to charge, and featured a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle gas engine that was teamed to a 4.4-KwH battery pack, continuously variable transmission (CVT), and front-wheel drive. After the 2015 model year, a second-generation version was introduced under the Toyota Prius Prime badging.

The car was offered in either Base or Advanced trim levels, and came outfitted with such standard amenities as four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, heated side mirrors, 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels, halogen headlights, LED brake lights, rear spoiler, remote keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control, heated front bucket seats, 6.1-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, HD Radio, rearview camera, and six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system.
